I had to format my computer today.(kids got a nice virus) When I did that I lost the notepad file with the rules on it that I had saved to my computer.I went searching for it again and I could not find an updated version. I have copied Harvs origional rules and will post them here. I know that there have been changes like trading players and extending the contract years of them.( I think we should be able to drop years for the same price but thats me) Please list any changes in the rules here so we can find them easy. BDFL Rulebook -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Breakneck Dynasty Football League
Overview Each Breakneck Dynasty Football League (BDFL) will be comprised of 14 teams, owned by 14 coaches. Membership will be by invitation only. The BDFL will be a contract dynasty league, with each team drafting players who will be retained from season to season, so long as each player’s contract allows. Each team will then field starting lineups from their rosters and compete in a 13 week head to head regular season, with the top 6 teams advancing into a 3 week head to head playoff, culminating with the BDFL Bowl during week 16 of the NFL season. The league will be divided into 4 divisions, two with 4 teams and two with 3 teams, with the 4 division winners and 2 wildcard teams qualifying for the playoffs. Emphasis is placed on a fun, challenging, and active fantasy football environment. No prizes will be awarded based on BDFL play, and coaches will be competing only for pride and bragging rights. The league will remain active, at varying levels, throughout the entire calendar year, with trading, free agency, and an annual rookie draft taking place over the NFL off season, as well as during NFL play.

Coaches Expectations All BDFL coaches are expected to be knowledgeable in the areas of NFL football, general fantasy football play, and the specific rules of this league. A loose knowledge of NCAA football athletes will also be of benefit to coaches, although not required. Coaches are expected to be active throughout the calendar year, and to do their utmost to field a competitive lineup during each week of the regular BDFL season--there will be no throwing of games! Coaches are not expected to be available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; however, coaches should make every effort to inform the league in advance of any expected absences due to vacations, work, or other real life obligations, and to find a suitable “teamsitter” should their absence occur during key league activity periods. Trash talk between coaches is permitted and encouraged, so long as it does not cross over into the realm of bullying or personal attacks, and so long as neither their talk nor their behavior is deemed offensive by other coaches or the league as a whole.

League Structure The BDFL will be a 14 team dynasty contract league, consisting of two conferences with 7 teams in each. Each conference will have 2 divisions, one consisting of 4 teams, the other of 3. Teams will be placed into a division based on random selection, with all teams being randomly realigned each year during the NFL rookie draft. Each team will play a 13 game regular season schedule, with 2 head to head matchups against each divisional opponent and 1 head to head matchup against each remaining conference foe. The remaining regular season games will be inter-conference matches based as closely as possible on the teams’ records in the previous season, with winning teams facing winning teams wherever possible. All inter-conference games in the initial season will be randomly determined.

Rosters BDFL active rosters will be comprised of no more than 45 NFL players, from the following positions: quarterback, running back, wide receiver, tight end, placekicker, punter, defensive line, linebacker, and defensive back. There are no minimum or maximum player requirements per position, so long as each team can field a full starting lineup from weeks 1 through 13 of the NFL season. During the BDFL off season (week 17 of the NFL season to week 1 of the following NFL season), teams are not required to maintain active players at every position.
In addition to the 45 player active roster, each team will have up to 5 injured reserve slots, and 3 slots on their developmental or “taxi” squad. In order to be eligible for injured reserve on a BDFL roster, a player must be on the injured reserve, physically unable to perform, or non-football-related injury list of his NFL team. Players listed as “out” for a game or set time period are not eligible for BDFL IR unless they meet one of the above conditions, and players suspended by the NFL for any reason are likewise ineligible for the BDFL injured reserve. In order to be eligible for the BDFL taxi squad, a player must meet NFL eligibility requirements (at least 3 years removed from high school graduation), and must have been previously drafted or signed as a free agent by an NFL team. Taxi squad players cannot have more than one year of NFL experience; in other words, only players currently in their rookie season are eligible. Taxi squad and injured reserve players may be activated at any time by their BDFL team, provided that sufficient contract cap and roster space can be cleared for them prior to activation.
During the period beginning with the start of the NFL rookie draft and ending at midnight Eastern time (12:00 AM in the morning) 5 calendar days before the first game of the NFL season, BDFL active rosters will be expanded to 53 players. The injured reserve will still be in effect during this time period, with the normal rules regarding eligibility, but there will be no taxi squad slots available to teams. The taxi squad is in effect for the remainder of the calendar year. Rookie draft picks will not count against their teams' contract caps during this time.
Starting Lineups Each team will field a starting lineup for weeks 1 through 13 of the NFL season, and for any playoff weeks in which the team is still active. All starting lineups will consist of the following: -One quarterback -at least one running back -One placekicker -One punter -at least 3 defensive linemen -at least 3 linebackers -at least 4 defensive backs Teams may choose one of the following options for their offense: 1. Pro-set: One QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE. 2. Wishbone: One QB, 3 RB, 2 TE. 3. Spread offense: One QB, 1 RB, 4 WR. 4. West coast: One QB, 1 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 WR/TE. Teams may choose one of the following options for their defense: 1. 43 Defense: 4 DL, 3 LB, 4 DB. 2. 34 Defense: 3 DL, 4 LB, 4 DB. 3. Nickel: 3 DL, 3 LB, 5 DB. All teams must start one placekicker and one punter for each game.
Note that there are no true “flex” positions; each team must choose one of the above options for offense and defense. Teams may freely change their offensive and/or defensive scheme up until 5 minutes before the start of the first weekly NFL game. After that time, BDFL teams may still substitute players whose games have not yet begun, but they may not change the overall offensive or defensive scheme. Teams are not required to maintain a particular scheme or schemes for the entire season--coaches may freely change schemes from week to week.
Additionally, each team may name a backup quarterback to their lineup. If a team’s starting quarterback is injured or leaves the game for any reason, the backup’s statistics will be added to that BDFL team’s totals. If the BDFL backup is the same as that quarterback’s NFL backup, all scoring will begin on the very next NFL play. If the BDFL backup is on a different NFL team, scoring will begin at the start of the next quarter after the starting QB left the game and did not return. When a BDFL backup from a different team is used, no points are received if the backup’s NFL game goes into overtime, unless the backup would otherwise be eligible. If a BDFL team’s starting quarterback does not play at all, that team would receive all points scored by its backup QB. Examples:
-Team A starts Jon Kitna at QB and names Carson Palmer as the backup QB. Since both quarterbacks are on the same NFL team, Team A would receive all points scored by both players, even if Kitna only comes out of the game for one play.
-Team B starts Brett Favre and names Jeff Garcia as the backup QB. Favre starts, but leaves the game midway through the second quarter due to injury. Since the two quarterbacks are on different NFL teams, Team B would only receive points for stats accumulated by Garcia in the 3rd & 4th quarters (and overtime, if applicable).
-Team C starts Donovan McNabb at QB and names Tom Brady as the backup. McNabb is a suprise last-minute scratch from his NFL game. Team C receives all points scored by Tom Brady, as McNabb did not play at all.
-Team D starts Michael Vick at QB and names Trent Green as his backup. Vick takes every snap in his game, but Green's game goes into overtime. Team D would receive no points from Green, as he would not otherwise be eligible to score for his BDFL team.
Note also that each BDFL team must field a full, active starting lineup for every week in which their team is competing. Failing to field a full lineup and/or submitting an illegal lineup (one which does not meet the standards of one of the allowed schemes) will result in a forfeit loss, with zero points and zero Breakneck Bucks being awarded to the offending team for that week, and may result in removal of the coach from the BDFL, even for a first offense. The only exception to this rule in is cases of extreme injury problems--if a coach, through no fault of his own, finds himself without enough healthy players at a particular position(s) in a given week, no penalty will be assessed to that team for failing to field an active starter, other than receiving zero points for that particular starting slot.

Scoring Scoring will be as follows, with points being awarded to the second decimal position (hundredths of a point). Points will be awarded to the BDFL team which owns that individual player, providing that team is starting the player at his regular position.
Out of position scoring: All players are eligible to receive points for statistics compiled while playing at a position other than their regular position, with the exception of per reception scoring. For example, if Warren Sapp, a defensive lineman, is brought into his NFL game as a tight end and catches a 2 yard touchdown pass, he would receive whatever points he accumulated for his defensive statistics, plus 6.2 points for his catch on offense. He would not receive the normal 2 points per reception by a tight end, simply because verifying the precise position at which a defensive player lines up at on offense would be far too difficult. Offensive players who compile statistics on defense or special teams are also eligible for points, based on the defensive backs’ scoring chart. However, points for fumbles recovered will only be awarded when an offensive player recovers an opponent’s fumble. Kickers or punters who accumulate statistics on faked kick plays will receive points based on the quarterbacks’ scoring chart.
Homefield advantage: The home team in all BDFL head to head matchups will receive the ability to name any one “wildcard” player for that week’s game. If the wildcard player outscores a starter at the same position in that team’s starting lineup, the home team will have the difference in points added to his weekly total. For example, if a home team starts Donovan McNabb at quarterback but names Patrick Ramsey as his wildcard player, the home team would in effect be starting whichever quarterback scored higher that week, between the two. Homefield advantage applies to all playoff games as well, with the higher-seeded team receiving the edge.
All scoring will be final & official at 12:00 PM (noon) eastern time on the Wednesday immediately following the final NFL game of the week, or 24 hours before the start of the first game of the next NFL week, whichever is first. Any official scoring changes or scoring disputes which occur after that time will not affect BDFL scores, neither for that week’s head to head matches nor for overall season scoring. Requests for a scoring change and/or review may be made at any time prior to the weekly deadline by contacting the league commissioner, either by instant message, email, or league message board posting. Instant messages or emails received after the weekly deadline will not be acted on; however, requests posted on the league message board and time stamped before the deadline will be processed by the commissioner as soon as possible, provided they are seen before the start of the following week’s NFL games. All scoring adjustments or non-adjustments will be made at the sole discretion of the league commissioner according to league rules and official game stats posted to NFL.com, and all decisions made by the league commissioner are final.

Initial Team Assets: Each BDFL team will begin its existence with $500 in notional “Breakneck Bucks” and 170 contract years. Breakneck bucks may be used to bid on free agents, or may be included in trades between teams for players or draft picks. Contract years will be allotted by each coach to the players on his team following the initial BDFL draft, and are non-transferable.
Initial BDFL Drafts: There will be two initial BDFL drafts: a veteran draft, and a rookie draft. The veteran draft will begin at a time agreeable to all coaches, and will consist of 45 rounds, following a snake or serpentine order, with the initial (first round) draft order to be random. Only players with at least one year of NFL experience are available in this draft. The draft will take place online at the league MFL site and will be identical in nature to the more familiar “email draft” option found on Exit42, with a 12 hour limit per draft pick. A “draft card” option is available and it is highly encouraged that coaches use it--coaches may list different players in a different order for each draft round, so there is really no good reason not to. If a team does not pick within the 12 hour limit, that draft slot will be skipped over and the team(s) with the next pick(s) will be eligible to make their selections. The skipped team may make their selection from the remaining player pool as soon as the coach returns by notifying the league commissioner either by instant message, email, or a posting on the league message board. If contact is made via IM or email, the commissioner will declare the selected player “off limits” and award that player to the skipped team as soon as possible after the message is received. If notification is via the league message board (here), the selected player is immediately considered off limits, and it is up to the other coaches in the league to make note of the posting & avoid picking that player until such a time as the commissioner is available to assign the player to the skipped team. If a team times out on consecutive picks or develops a pattern of missing selections throughout the draft, the commissioner will determine whether or not that coach should remain a member of the BDFL.
The second initial BDFL draft will be the rookie draft, and will begin exactly one week following the conclusion of the initial BDFL veteran draft or one week following the conclusion of the NFL rookie draft, whichever is later. Only players with no NFL experience who have either been drafted by an NFL team or have been signed as an undrafted rookie free agent are eligible to be picked in the BDFL rookie draft. The initial BDFL rookie draft will be 7 rounds in length and follow a serpentine order, with the first round order being the reverse of that of the initial BDFL veteran draft (I.e., the team which picked 1st in the veteran draft will pick 14th in the rookie draft; the team which picked 13th in the veteran draft will select 2nd in the rookie draft). All other rules and penalties will be identical to the veteran draft.
A team may opt to pass at any time in either draft rather than selecting a player, at no penalty. If a team passes, that selection will be skipped and the next team in the draft order will be on the clock. No “make up” pick may be made later in the draft by the team which passed--by passing, that team is giving up the ability to select a player with that draft slot. Teams may freely trade draft picks at any time after the initial order is announced, either for other draft picks, for players, or for Breakneck Bucks (or any combination of the three). Teams may trade draft picks up to one draft in advance; in other words, before or during the initial veteran draft, players may trade for or give up selections in the initial rookie draft. During the 2004 BDFL season, teams may trade their picks in the 2005 BDFL rookie draft. Teams may not trade away draft picks more than one year in advance, and may not make “conditional” trades (like the Miami-New Orleans Ricky Williams trade in the NFL). Trades need not be even--for example, a team can trade away their 10th and 11th round picks for another team’s 8th rounder--however, at no time may any team’s roster exceed the 53 player “training camp” limit.
Beginning with the 2005 season and in each season thereafter, there will be no veteran draft. A seven round rookie draft will be held exactly one week following the conclusion of the annual NFL rookie draft. The draft order will be the inverse of the previous season’s standings, with the worst team picking first, the league runner-up (loser of the week 16 BDFL Bowl) picking next-to last, and the league champion picking last, and the draft will not snake--the team which picks first in the 1st round will also have the first pick of the 2nd and all ensuing rounds. If two or more teams finish the season with identical records, the following tiebreakers will be applied to decide the rookie draft order: 1. Playoffs. Any team which made the playoffs will pick after a team with the same record who missed the playoffs. 2. Least Total points scored. 3. Least Total points against. 4. Coin flip.

Contract Years: Each coach must allot at least one contract year to every player on his active roster. These allotments must be made within one week of the conclusion of the initial BDFL veteran draft for players selected there, or announced with bids during free agency. Failure to announce a player’s contract number within that time period will result in a default contract, valued at one year, being assigned to that player by the league commissioner. Each team has 170 contract years to assign to its players; that number may never be increased nor decreased for any reason.
Rookie draft picks are exempt from the contract cap so long as rosters remain at their "training camp" level of 53 players, and teams need not assign a contract value to their rookie selections during this time frame (although they may, if desired). However, BDFL teams must either announce a contract number for their rookie picks or place those players on the taxi squad before the end of BDFL training camp (5 calendar days before the first NFL game of the regular season). Players assigned to the taxi squad need not have a contract number assigned to them until they are placed on the active roster.
Once a player is assigned a contract number, that player will remain with his BDFL team for a number of years equal to the contract number. In other words, if a BDFL team drafts LaDainian Tomlinson and allots him 7 contract years, Tomlinson will remain with that team for 7 years, or until traded or released. In this example, Tomlinson would count for 7 against the 170 year cap of that BDFL team for the full length of his contract, so that coach would have only 163 contract years with which to retain the rest of his active roster. Each player on the active roster must be allotted at least 1 contract year. Once a player’s contract expires, that player becomes a free agent, and can be bid on by all BDFL teams during the annual free agency period, using Breakneck Bucks. In the example above, if Tomlinson were selected in the initial (2004) draft, he would become a free agent following the conclusion of the 2010 NFL season.
At no time may a team allot more than 170 contract years to its active roster. Teams may free up additional room under the cap by either releasing players or by trading away players with high contract numbers for players with a lower cap hit. A player may be released at any time during his contract at no penalty to his team. A team must have sufficient contract years remaining before making a trade for a player or drafting a rookie. For example, if a team was using 165 contract years and wanted to trade for Tomlinson (and his 7 year contract), that team would have to give up one or more players whose contracts totaled at least 2 years in order to complete the deal, or else release enough players to bring his cap total to 163 years before acquiring Tomlinson. During the annual rookie draft, a team must have at least 1 contract year remaining under the cap for each pick they make in the draft beyond 3 (the number of taxi squad slots available). If a team is “maxed out“ with 170 contract years already used, that team would either have to release players from its active roster or else forfeit its rookie draft picks beyond round 3.
Players on injured reserve or on the taxi squad do not count against the contract cap, and need not have contract years assigned to them. However, if a player with a multiple year contract is placed on injured reserve, that player retains his contract value through the injury; if Tomlinson above were placed on injured reserve for the 2005 season, his coach would still need to free up 7 contract years on his active roster in order to activate Tomlinson for 2006.
Teams may not extend the contracts of their players; whatever contract is awarded to the player when he is first acquired is final. Teams may not increase or decrease the contract length of players acquired through trades, either. The only time a player’s contract length can change is if he is released and/or acquired through free agency. Teams may not trade or sell contract years.
Off Season Free Agency: The BDFL annual free agency period will coincide with the NFL’s free agency period of the same off season. In other words, if the NFL free agency period begins on March 1st of 2005, so will the BDFL’s. In order to bid on a free agent, a BDFL team must have 3 things: first, enough Breakneck Bucks to cover the bid; second, at least one contract year remaining under the cap; third, at least one open slot on the 45 man active roster or 53 man training camp roster, when applicable. A team may never bid more Breakneck Bucks than remain in its account. However, if a team does not meet one or more of the other criteria, it may announce a conditional cut when making the free agent bid. For example, a team might post a free agent bid like so: Team A bids $24 on WR Peerless Price for 3 contract years. Will cut WR Keyshawn Johnson, 3 contract years.
If team A’s bid is successful, Keyshawn Johnson will be released, freeing up the required 3 contract years and 1 roster slot for Price. If team A is outbid on Price, he would retain Johnson on his team.
All bidding will be in an open format, and will take place here on the league message board. A new topic or thread will be created for each free agent by the first team to bid on that player. In order for a bid to be valid, it must contain the amount of Breakneck Bucks being bid, the full first and last names of the player being bid on, that player’s position, and the number of contract years to be allotted to that player should the bid be successful. A team must also post the full name, position, and contract value of any player(s) to be released in order to free up cap and/or roster space for the free agent. Failure to meet any of these conditions will invalidate the bid. A coach may bid on as many players as he wishes at any one time, providing that he has enough Breakneck Bucks to cover the sum of all active bids, and that he would have enough roster spots and contract years (including conditional cuts) to sign the players. If at any time the sum total of all active bids exceeds any of these limits, free agent bids by that team will be invalidated starting with the most recent and working backwards until all bids are legal. For example: Team B has $150 remaining in his account, with 10 contract years and 3 roster spots open. He bids $80 and 6 contract years on QB Daunte Culpepper, $15 and 3 years on WR Travis Taylor, and $25 and 2 years on DB Rogers Beckett. Team B’s bid on Beckett would be invalid, as he does not have enough contract years remaining under his cap to sign all 3 players under the terms stated. However, if he were outbid on Taylor prior to making his bid on Beckett, Team B’s bid would be legal.
**Important**--Do not edit any free agent bid posts on the message board, for any reason. It is simply not possible for the commissioner or anyone in the league to keep track of all bids on all players at all times, and so if posts could be edited after the fact, it would be possible for a team to reduce a prior bid in order to free up cash or contract years for a bigger name player who just became available. While it is extremely doubtful that any BDFL coach would do such a thing, in order to remove any possibility of suspicion, any coach who edits his bid post will be subject to the following penalties: a $20 fine (in Breakneck Bucks), invalidation of ALL current bids, and a ban from bidding on any player which that coach had an active bid on at the time of the edit. Check your bid posts carefully before hitting the post button, and if you do discover a typo after submitting the post, simply post an immediate reply stating the error in the same topic, before making any other bids on other players. Once a coach has submitted a bid on another player, any previous bid posts are final, typos and all.
Off season bidding on free agents is open to all teams, including the prior owner of that player. A player signs with a team after 2 full days (48 hours) pass without another team outbidding the previous high bidder. All bids must be in full Breakneck Bucks--there are no $5.50 bids allowed. Outbids must be done with Breakneck Bucks--contract years are not a factor in determining who has the highest bid. Bidding collusion is strictly prohibited; a team may not trade players, cash, or draft picks to another team in order to ensure that team will not bid on a certain player or players.
In Season Free Agency During the BDFL season, a combined waivers/free agency system will be used. Each team may sign up to one player off waivers, with the waiver period beginning at the conclusion of the last NFL game of the week, and ending Wednesday night at 8 PM Eastern or 24 hours before the kickoff of the first NFL game of the following week, whichever is first. Waivers lists will be filled out and processed on the MFL site, with priority being based on a “worst to first” basis, and lists will not be visible to other coaches. Once the waivers are processed, teams may sign as many free agent players from the available player pool as they wish, on a first come first serve basis, ending 12 hours before kickoff of the first NFL game of the following week. All in season waivers/free agency signings are subject to a $1 Breakneck Bucks fee, and standard contract cap & roster space requirements apply.
Waivers and free agency will be frozen beginning 12 hours before kickoff of the first game in the NFL’s week 14 and ending with the start of the annual off season free agency period. During this time period, no new players may be signed by any team. Teams may activate players from their taxi squad and injured reserve during the free agency freeze.
Trading BDFL teams may trade any combination of players, Breakneck Bucks, or draft picks among each other. Trades need not be on an even basis--teams may make 2 for 1, 3 for 1, or 45 for 1 trades, so long as both teams have roster & contract cap space available. Teams may trade future draft picks away, but only to the following year; for example, during the 2005 season, a BDFL team may trade away its first round pick in the 2006 rookie draft, but may not trade any picks for the 2007 draft or beyond. All trades are immediately processed as soon as all involved teams agree to terms, using the MFL site; there is no “league review” period, as all BDFL coaches will be veteran fantasy players capable of making fair trades. However, each team is also responsible for ensuring that they have the contract cap & roster space available which the deal would require--any coach who accepts a trade which violates the contract cap will be assessed with a fine (in Breakneck Bucks) equal to $10 per year over the limit, and will be required to immediately release as many players as is necessary to get back under the cap. Should the error not be noticed and/or corrected before that team’s next BDFL game, the offending team will suffer a forfeit loss, and will have zero points and zero Breakneck Bucks awarded for that week.
Trading will be frozen 12 hours before the first game of the NFL’s week 12, and will reopen 24 hours after the conclusion of the NFL Super Bowl. One more time, BDFL teams may not trade or sell contract years under any circumstance.

Breakneck Bucks Each franchise begins its existence with $500 in Breakneck Bucks, which may be used in free agency bidding and trading. Additional Breakneck Bucks may be acquired through trade, by “selling” players and/or draft picks to another team, and based on a team’s performance. Each week during the BDFL regular season, teams will be allotted additional Breakneck Bucks as follows:
Losing team with the lowest score: $30 Losing team with the 2nd lowest score: $28 Losing team with the 3rd lowest score: $26 Losing team with the 4th lowest score: $24 Losing team with the 5th lowest score: $22 Losing team with the 2nd highest score: $20 Losing team with the highest score: $18 Winning team with the lowest score: $16 Winning team with the 2nd lowest score: $14 Winning team with the 3rd lowest score: $12 Winning team with the 4th lowest score: $10 Winning team with the 5th lowest score: $8 Winning team with the 2nd highest score: $6 Winning team with the highest score: $4
At the conclusion of each BDFL season, each team will receive $5 for every regular season win, $8 for every playoff win, and $20 for winning the BDFL Championship. These awards are cumulative; a team that went 13-0 in the regular season and won two playoff games and the league championship would receive $93 in “bonus cash”, in addition to its weekly awards during the season.
Playoffs At the conclusion of the 13 week regular season, the 4 division winners and two wildcard teams will advance to a 3 week playoff to determine the league champion. The top two division winners will receive a bye in week 14, with the remaining two division winners hosting the two wildcard teams in week 14 action. The top two division winners will then host the winners of the week 14 games during week 15, with the two remaining teams squaring off for the title in week 16. There will be no BDFL action during week 17 of the NFL season, nor during the NFL playoffs.
Tiebreakers The following tiebreakers will be used to determine these particular rankings:
Regular Season Games: In the unlikely event that two teams tie, even with decimal scoring in effect, that game will be declared a tie. There are no regular season tiebreakers.
To Determine Division Winners: 1. Overall winning percentage 2. Head to Head record between all tied teams. 3. Division winning percentage. 4. Total points scored. 5. Total points against. 6. Coin flip.
To Determine Wildcard Teams Or Break Playoff Seeding Ties: 1. Overall winning percentage. 2. Head to Head record between all tied teams. 3. Total points scored. 4. Total points against. 5. Coin flip.
To Determine Waiver Order (winner receives first priority among tied teams): 1. Worst overall winning percentage. 2. Fewest points scored. 3. Fewest points against. 4. Worst winning percentage in previous season. 5. Non-playoff team in previous season. 6. Fewest points scored in previous season. 7. Fewest points against in previous season. 8. Coin flip.
To Determine Rookie Draft Order In 2005 & Beyond: 1. Worst overall winning percentage. 2. Non-playoff team 3. Fewest points scored. 4. Fewest points against. 5. Coin flip.
To Determine Winners in Playoff Games: 1. Total points scored by starting lineup. 2. Highest percentage of potential points scored. 3. Total touchdowns scored by starting lineup. 4. Total interceptions caught and fumbles recovered by starting lineup. 5. Total field goals by starting lineup. 6. Total sacks by starting lineup. 7. Total touchdowns by bench. 8. Home team wins.

Rule Clarifications, Changes, and Exceptions While every effort will be made to include all BDFL coaches in the interpretation and/or changing of league rules, final authority in all rules-related questions rests with the league commissioner, and the commissioner’s judgment is final. Coaches are encouraged to bring questions or suggestions regarding BDFL rules to the attention of the league commissioner, especially during the off season. In the event that a situation occurs which is not covered in the BDFL rules, the commissioner will make a final ruling on it after consulting with league coaches as much as is practical. Under no circumstance will a BDFL rule be changed retroactively--any changes to the BDFL rules will only apply to future league action.
Removal of a Coach from the League Every reasonable effort will be made to clear up any discrepancies or disagreements between coaches prior to considering a BDFL member for expulsion. However, in extreme cases the league commissioner will cast the sole and deciding “vote” on whether or not to expel a coach. Instances where an owner may be removed from the league include, but are not limited to: absenteeism during the regular season & key off season activity periods; threatening, offensive, or derogatory remarks made to one or more other coaches; cheating or collusion between teams; and any conduct which is deemed detrimental to the league as a whole. If a league member is expelled, the commissioner will inform that member of the expulsion and the reasoning behind it; other coaches need not “pile on”.

Recent Rules Changes -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This thread will be used to inform all BDFL coaches of recent changes or clarifications made to the official BDFL rules.
2/3/04 - Made rookie draft picks exempt from the contract cap & allowed for teams to hold rookie picks on their training camp roster without assigning a contract value. This was done both in the interest of fairness to BDFL teams (this allows some time to evaluate a rookie's skills and standing with his NFL team) and to make things easier on the league administrator. Also, yours truly noticed the contradiction in the original rules, which stated that taxi squad players need not have contract values, but rookie draft picks must be assigned a contract within one week of the rookie draft (while taxi squads are not in effect). Oops.
-Provided more detailed examples of backup quarterback scoring & non-scoring.
-Annotated those scoring categories which cannot currently be implemented by MFL (touchbacks kicked & all length of punt scoring).
-Corrected a couple typos & cut out a word here or there.

When are players to be released when their contract expires? For example, I have a player whose contract expires in 2005, is he gone now? If I recall, I think I have until free agency opens to negotiate a new contract or release him. Is that right? Or does he go right to bid when free agency opens.

To allow time for owners to negotiate trades, players in the final year of their contract may be retained until the date of the NFL Draft. Taxi squad players may also be retained until that date before their fate must be decided.
