I drafted for chris' team, "southern comfort"
2:5 Dustin Keller, te, new york jets - Those of you in the MFL-east know that I consider keller a first round talent so to get him here was the best scenario I could hope for. He's a dynamic playmaker and chris is losing heath miller soon so he needed a stud te. 2:10 Devin Thomas, wr, washington(was drafted by "bandwagon" but acquired via trade along with jake delhomme for kurt warner, matt leinart, and pick 7:14) - At 6'2, 215 and running a 4.40/40 I considered thomas to be the best wr in the draft. I'm not crazy about his situation but hopefully his talent can overcome that
3:6 Jacob Hester, rb, san diego - Hester was IMO the best available rb on the board and thus fills a need. I like him a lot although I'm not sure if he'll ever be able to replace LT in a few years. That said he can play multiple positions and will be more productive than if he were just a handcuff
4:14 Dominique rodgers-cromartie, cb, arizona - I sound like a broken record but yet again I wanted a playmaker and he should be a very nice addition to the db corps.
5:4 Tim hightower, rb, arizona ( traded to "cheesy poofs" along with chris chambers and trent cole for anquan boldin and dwight freeney.) - Hightower has good size and should at the very least be a halfway decent goal line rb. That said the major reason I took hightower was the possibility that he will eventually replace edge as arizona's main rb
It's hard for me to grade this draft. I'm happy with the players I got but of those five players only dustin keller will be in the starting lineup this year. That's mostly because the free agents I was able to acqure should make more of an immediate impact.

I don't watch college football and I know nothing about any of these players. I have never seen any of them play a down. Everything I did was based on team needs, logic, adapting players to our requirements and scoring system, and reading the opinions of others.
1.14 WR James Hardy BUF
I had to go out the night I drafted Hardy. I put Keller top of my list and was all ready to leave, and then I changed it. TEs have good value in this system, but I don't like the Jets' QB situation. Cotchery gets a lot of short passes over the middle already. I have Gates and Gonzalez at TE.
So I decided to look at WR. None had been drafted so I had my pick of the bunch. The Bills presumably took Hardy for a reason, and they certainly need the help. He's 6' 5" so he should be a great target in the end zone and will probably start from day one. Evans is not guaranteed to stay in Buffalo either.
2.14 WR Donnie Avery STL
I was hoping that Devin Thomas would fall because I think he will win the starting job this year. In the end, it may be a good thing that Thomas was gone. Campbell isn't exactly great. I think the Rams passing game is excellent, and Bulger is a very good QB. They play in a dome and I already have Torry Holt. I figured that owning another piece of the Rams' passing game was a good idea. If the Rams were that high on Bennett, he would have beaten out Bruce and been a bigger factor before now. Again, the Rams took Avery for a reason with the 33rd pick of the draft. Derrick Harvey was my only other consideration here.
3.14 CB Brandon Flowers KC
Flowers is expected to start this year and the Chiefs play plenty of cover-2. The rookie corner rule should be in effect and Flowers could even pan out long-term.
4.02 TE John Carlson SEA
I thought Carlson and Davis were the best value on the board at the end of the third. I took Flowers because I knew that I was up again with this 4.02 pick. It seemed likely that Mark would take Fred Davis, but I would have been happy with either here. The Seahawks have taken a big hit in the running game with Alexander being cut. The passing game is also a mess and Branch may not start the season. Carlson makes a good end zone target and maybe more.
4.10 WR Earl Bennett CHI
Bennett didn't feel a need; he was just good value. The Bears are in a mess at QB, but they have no receivers either. Berrian and Muhammad have gone. Hester is hardly likely to get 80 catches and he is too valuable in the return game. Bennett doesn't have much in his way at all. I traded my 4.14 and 7.14 for this pick because talent was running out fast.
5.14 Beau Bell CLE
I doubt that Bell will do anything this year in the Browns' system. But I wanted a prospect at LB. The Browns moved up to get him and he was their first pick in the draft. Some reports say he will push Andra Davis by mid-season, and Davis had a few productive years in that system.
6.04 WR Keenan Burton STL
Just in case Burton exceeds expectations, or Avery busts, I took another piece of the Rams' passing game.
6.07 RB Tashard Choice DAL
Why did Dallas draft two RBs and then sign Barber? It's a dynasty league so Choice might become valuable in a couple of years. If Barber gets injured, Choice might get most of the workload in a potent offense. Nothing to lose at this point in the draft.
6.08 TE Jacob Tamme IND
Utecht was allowed to leave and Dallas Clark has not been the most durable TE over the years. Manning will hit anyone that's open, so why not take a TE in a great offense?
6.14 RB Marcus Thomas SD
There is no guarantee that Jacob Hester will be Tomlinson's backup. He is listed as a FB after all, and any rookie can bust. Thomas was taken in the 5th round and has ideal size for a RB.

Dog Fight just like Steve, I know nothing about college football. I am just relying on the so called experts to guide me.
1.3 Jonathon Stewert - RB - Car some think he might be the #1 RB in this class, so I felt real lucky to get him.
1.6 Matt Forte - RB - Chi having Benson made this pick easy. he is going 1.4 in lots of drafts and that is where I would have taken him even over Kevin Smith.
2.4 Ray Rice - RB - Bal once again, having MacGahee made this pick easy. if Forte and Smith had been gone at 1.6, then I would have taken Rice there. so I was very happy to get him in the 2nd round.
3.2 Curtis Lofton - LB -Atl I was very happy to see the WR run in the 2nd round. Lofton was second on my draft list behind Rice at 2.4. he should be the #1 LB in this draft and was a weakness on my team. Derrick Harvey was next on my list here, but he went as the next pick.
4.4 Josh Johnson - QB - TB with so many QBs already gone, I was surprised to see one left that I had rated higher than some others already taken. a good TS candidate.
4.6 Tavares Gooden - LB - Bal another good TS candidate. if he takes over for Ray Lewis next year, then he should be a stud LB for years.
5.3 Aqib Talib - CB - TB a playmaker for sure. if they use him as a returner and on offense as well as at CB, then he could be special. I had Andre Caldwell ranked ahead of Talib, but he went one pick earlier.
7.11 Andre Woodson - QB - NYG another QB to stash on the TS. you never know. almost took Zbikowski here and he went one pick later.
well pleased with overall draft except I didn't get to address my weakness at DL. there are still 2 players I would have drafted that didn't get picked yet, so I will keep my eye on them.

1.8 - Chris Long DE, Rams This was definitely a reach taking Long at #8 but he fills my biggest need, and I don't think he would have lasted until my 2nd round pick. My DL at the time of this pick were Dwight Freeney, Jovan Haye, Cory Redding, and Clifton Ryan. Ouch!
2.8 - Jerod Mayo LB, Patriots I expect Mayo to become a starter sometime during this season, and to be a FF stud LB for many years to come. I was very happy to get him with this pick.
3.8 - Jordon Dizon, LB, Lions Dizon's competiion for the Lion's starting middle LB is Paris Lenon. Dizon should win the starting job easily.
4.8 - Early Doucet, WR, Cardinals This is a bit of a homer pick as I am a huge LSU fan, but I think Early is an underrated WR in this draft. He is a polished WR who fell in the NFL draft because of an injury in his senior year. If the rumors of Anquan Boldin being traded become true, then Early's value is even greater.
5.8 - Craig Steltz S, Bears Geez, another homer LSU pick, but his competition for a starting position for the Bears is Brandon McGowan. Who the hell is Brandon McGowan??? Steltz is a hard hitting safety who will get a ton of tackles in this Bears defense.
7.8 - Adrian Arrington WR, Saints This late in the draft we're just looking for sleepers who can surprise everybody and be productive, such as Marques Colston. Senior citizen David Patten is the Saints #2 WR, and Adrian's competition at the #3 WR are disappointing Robert Meacham and Devery Henderson. Adrian has a great chance of getting many looks in the Saints pass-happy offense.
I'm not thrilled with my draft overall, but I think I have picked up players who can fill my needs.

Nice reviews of your drafts fellas. Like Kchihuahua, I had to fill needs. I think my draft trades helped me get some talent I need. I'm hating myself for not securing Roethlisberger for a longer contract. I have this year and can franchise him the next year, but if the right trade were to come along...Big Ben is set to have a huge year and probably for the next several years. I needed another QB and defensive line help the most. Not having a pick in the 1st rd. hurt a bit for the QB pick, so I waited until 3.03. 2.03 My first pick: I grabbed Glenn Dorsey, DT, KC due to his high ratings by the experts and then also picked up DE Chris Ellis, BUF at pick 7.05 (last) hoping this young man gets a chance to break into the starting lineup. I might have picked up a TE, but was able to secure Kevin Boss NYG at the end of last season and with all of the drama Shockey created, he may not be in NY long anyway...I hope. 3.03 At QB, I drafted Erik Ainge, as we all know, the Jets QB situation is not solid and a youngster like him may have a chance in a couple of years. 4.03 See Steve's 6.08 comment, as I picked up WR, Pierre Garcon for the same reasons since Harrison is in the twilight of a great career. 6.01 Lavelle Hawkins, WR TEN I figured I'd grab some youth at WR and Tennessee has a decent QB and passing game and it may just pan out. 6.03 Mario Utturia, WR CIN. Continuing on the thought at 6.01, with a disgruntled Chad Johnson, maybe a young guy might get a chance. I wished I could have gotten both new Cincy receivers, but hey. 7.03 RB Justin Forsett, SEA. I had to get at least one RB and with the departure of Alexander, who knows, I may just get lucky here. 7.04 WR Marcus Monk, CHI. Chicago's passing game may be in question but regardless, there wasn't much left here. I should have made him my 7.05 pick but it didn't matter the order, I had 3 in a row. Is he related to Art??? His son??? God, I hope so!

my opinions so far:
steve - how long are you going to use that excuse? By now we all know that whether you watch college football or not you're gonna put up a hell of a team.
I like your first three picks and getting burton in the 6th was a great value pick. Although I am surprised that you drafted so many wrs
kellum - I'm not sold on forte' but I think you got some quality rbs in stewart(IMO the best rb in the draft) and rice. In addition you picked up two stud lbs. To be perfectly honest I think you missed big time with the johnson pick. I know some ppl are very high on him but at 6'3" and only 198 IMO he doesn't have the size to make it as a qb in the NFL
chilly - I don't see taking long at 1:8 as a reach. You got a couple of quality lbs in mayo and dizon and I think when we all look back at this draft getting arrington at 7:8 might be considered the steal of the draft
coach - You have no idea how many times I considered trading brady to you.
Frankly I'm not crazy about your draft. Dorsey is a beast but you have to wonder how much he'll be able to stay healthy also dt's aren't huge scorers in this type of scoring format. In addition both garcon and ainge were huge reaches. I love the pick of hawkins at 6:1 and considered taking him instead of hightower with the fifth round pick. I also like your drafting of forsett and monk in the seventh round. But that's just from a talent standpoint, both of them are in terrible situations

How did I do in the BDFL draft..........? Well considering that I didn't draft one offensive player, I don't think I did too bad from the #13 position. Some of the players I targetted got taken just picks ahead of me, meaning I waited too long and should have snagged them when I had the chance. With that said...........here goes another comical writeup in 2 or 3 years from now.
1.13 - Vernon Gholston DE/LB NYJ - I'm on the fence with this pick.......one side I like it because I feel I needed a DE for the future. But now it's being rumored that he could change to LB, which in this scoring system really SUCKS AZZ. But I also feel that I needed to boost my LB core too since I'm going to lose Gary Brackett next year. If Gholston walks into a starting job, I'll be happy with my 1st round pick.
2.13 - Leon McKelvin CB BUFF - I like this pick alot. He comes into the league with alot of hype & clout. And he should have a starting gig waiting on him. I seem to have good luck with drafting CBs/Ss so I'm hoping this is just another one. He is one of the Top 2 CBs that I had ranked due to all the "experts" opinions. If he gets return yards too........it's a bonus!
3.13 Dan Connor LB CARO - I missed out on the LB of my choice, Curtis Lofton, but will settle on drafting yet another LB for my team's future. Dan Morgan has finally retired so Connor should also walk right into a starting gig. Between Thomas Davis, Jon Beason and Dan Connor...........CARO suddenly has a nice young core of LBs. I hope I can benefit from them producing together.
4.13 Phillip Merling DE MIA - This player was drafted for a number of reasons. #1, I think he's very underrated.........#2, since I have Jason Taylor on this BDFL team and if he doesn't report or play for MIA in 2008 maybe Merling can step in - worse case he's a backup for Taylor's replacement.........#3, I feel that I still need DE help since Gholston could be lost to the LB position.
5.06 (*acquired in trade*) Xavier Adibi LB HOU - Homer pick.........but from the little things I've read from Kubiak, he is spewing with good things about Adibi and it seems that Morlon Greenwood could be in jeopardy of losing his starting gig to the rookie. Not only is this a homer pick, but again, I'll need LBs for the future. If Gholston moves to LB and drafting Dan Connor too.....and the addition of Adibi.......I've accomplished what I wanted to do.
5.13 Tyrell Johnson S MINN - I love what Kenny Phillips brings to the NFL, but I have TJ higher than him. Not sure why, I guess preference.........but I'm glad to snag this cat in the last of the 5th round. If he's not playing much this year, he'll be starting next year hopefully. I think this guy is one of my TAXI players for sure. OTA's will decide his fate on my team. IMO.........I'm not sure why he was available this late in our draft. I don't think he should have been.
6.13 Kentwan Balmer DE 49ers - I drafted this guy solely on his size and what I feel I need for my team DEF. He's probably a long shot, but at this point.........he's not much more of a gamble than a few of the offensive players left that I was looking at like Justin Forsett, Adrian Arrington, Harry Douglas, and Marcus Monk.
7.13 Antwan Molden CB HOU - DUH! Homer pick..........with the injury to Dante Robinson last year, it leaves HOU with a hole at CB. Yeah they signed Jacques Reeves but DAL let him leave for a reason - he blows chunks. Molden might have a job by the Bye Week, which I think is Week 8. Either way, I like the addition to HOU's DEF.....and it could benefit me next year in the BDFL. He's a roll of the dice player, but if Kubes likes him - then he must be OK.
Anyways, that's my garbage..........we'll all have a good laugh in a few years like my last one. ;D

My draft sucked. Hows that for a write up!! That's what happens when the majority of your draft takes place in the 6th and 7th round. However you did manage to get a couple of quality lbs in the 2nd and 4th rounds when you picked keith rivers and philip wheeler

Well I've been in the BDFL since the beginning, have made the playoffs as a high seed each year and have yet to win the goofy thing. I made alot of trades last off season which left me with 5 picks in the draft with the first coming at 2.2. My general impressions coming into the draft were that outside of the RB's I didn't value very highly any of the other offensive positions this year especially at WR. So I decided to concentrate on Defensive players as the strength of this draft seemed to be there. Now if some of the offensive players dropped a few round I would have contemplated drafting them. Also in looking at my team I went in hoping to add players at DL or CB/S. As a final note I tend to follow the SEC so feel I know alittle more about those guys in a draft like this. So without further ado:
1.12 Calvin Johnson WR DET Last year traded a couple players and my first and third round picks for Calvin Johnson. To me this has to be included as part of my draft and even though Johnson had a middling first year I still really like his potential going forward. He easily would have been the #1 WR this year as I didn't have a WR I would draft in the first 3 rounds this year. I like the combo of Johnson/Fitzgerald on my team in the comng years.
2.02 Phillips, Kenny NYG S I was hoping Long or Gholston would fall to me and when neither did I went with what I thought was not only the best safety in the draft but one who went to a team where he can play immediately. Phillips has some Miami baggage but if he plays to his potential he could be solid. this pick was acquired in a trade after I had lost my other 2nd rounder in a trade.
4.12 Groves, Quentin JAC DE No pick in the 3rd round as I believe part of the CJ trade. I was anxiously watching and hoping Groves fall to me. I've watched him on TV and in person and he was one of the most dominating defensive players I've seen the last few year. He's a lttle light and has had some injuries but He was one of those players you always noted when watching game. Very very fast and a solid hitter.
5.12 Barrett, Josh DEN S Ok this was my big reach. Not sure if he was on anyone elses radar but I wanted him badly as he's big at around 6'2, 230 pound and ran a 4.35 fourty. He was a good hitter who can cover slot receivers and makes tackles. I do think he would have gone higher if he hadn't been hurt some last year. I love he went to Denver who will lose Lynch soon and should have a solid chance to play. As an aside I drafted him in the MFL as the last player chosen in the draft and was worried someone may have noticed him and decided to take him early. Other players I was looking to draft at this point was Earl Bennett (drafted a few picks before this one) Phillip Merling (drafted at the next pick) and Calais Campbell who was drafted at:
6.12 Campbell, Calais ARI DE This was a nice pick as I contemplated him in the previous round and then he was there when I picked at 6.12, He's incredibly Long 6'8 and around 300 pounds with probably below average speed but still in my top 4 DE's. With Berry and the other DE getting older in Arizona I think he'll get a chance to step in sooner rather than later. i was hoping Tyrell Johnson or Lavelle Hawkins would make it to me but when they didn't Campbell was the pick.
7.12 Zbikowski, Tom BAL S I had 3 players on my draft card here in Justin Forsett, Andre Woodson and Zbikowski. I like Zbikowski due to he has good size to go along with moderate speed. I really like he returned punts at ND which has to mean he has good athletisim and pretty good hands. I know he's tough and has good hands so I'm thinking somewhere down the line he may get a chance.
Well thats it as I went Defense and shored up my DL and DB core.
In conclusion Ididn't have a ton of picks but I think now this was a decent draft for me but we'll see in 2 to 3 years as you never know. I'll also eventually post on others drafts here but I'm leaving town tomorrow for over a week. Also this is my favorite league as this draft fascinates me how people draft. Any comments I make are not meant to criticize but rather what I was thinking at the time. One thing I have learned is if you have a player you value highly (perhaps much higher than his so called ratings are) go ahead and grab him so you don't lose him.

rob - Very nice draft, Your first three picks were outstanding. I'm not as high on merling as you are but can see a reason why you'd take him. I think balmer is a nice sleeper and I'm not crazy about the moulden pick but you admit you took him because you're a homo...I mean homer. ;D
bear - Great draft. Getting johnson for a late first and a third was a steal especially in a ppr. I took philips in the MFL -east draft, so I'm obviously very high on him. I hate you for taking groves and I'm still upset at myself for passing him up in the MFL-east draft. I would have taken a late round flyer on barrett but I think you're higher on him than just about anyone else is. I love the pick of zbikowski but mostly because I'm a notre dame fan and he was one of the very few bright spots on our team. IMO he's too slow to be a db in the NFL and the ravens should get him to beef up another 20 lbs or so and move him to linebacker

Duh, when posting my review of my draft, I failed to mention that my 7.03 pick was also chosen to supplement the fact that I also have TJ Duckett (SEA).
