Round 1 ~ Eric Shelton, CAR, RB Round 2 ~ Brandon Jacobs, NYG, RB Round 3 ~ Kyle Orton, CHI, QB Round 4 ~ Kevin Burnett, DAL, LB Round 5 ~ Dan Orlovsky, DET, QB Round 6 ~ Dan Cody, BALT, DE Round 7 ~ Donte Nicholson, TB, S Well I was very happy to land 2 possible goal line threats with my 1st 2 picks, Shelton/Jacobs...............and future starters (hopefully). I was more surprised that I got them both from the 11th slot of the draft. But I think my best value players with come from the Round 4, 6 & 7 picks. Burnett could be a demon if healthy. Depending on the Ravens, Cody could become a LB or stay at DE. Either way, he should be a good value pick from this round. And my eyes have been on my Round 7 pick for awhile...........Donte Nicholson of TB. This is the guy that could help that DEF the most. Ever since John Lynch left the Bucs, they have missed that intimidating S that can make jaw-dropping hits. This could be their guy. Now I need to fit him in my cap-space. Any opinions on my draft? Considering where I drafted from, I kinda like my new additions. But I'm still mad as hell that a few players got taken right before I had a chance to get them..............or got taken right after I picked, hoping they would come back to me. How do you think yours turned out? Let's hear it!

Round 1 ~ "via trade" ~ Ryan MoatsWestbrook is a free agent next year and Moats gets 3rd round rookie pay...wanna guess what Philly will do? Moats will develope into a suberb pass receiver and I believe has better talent than Westbrook. Downside is ~ Philly could always bring someone in... "Henry"? But all the off season hype is favorable Round 2 ~ "via trade" ~ Thomas DavisSS or LB...He will be the top IDP'er in this years draft. Big hitter, great pass rush skills, the whole package. .Obviously number one on my IDP list...I'm happy so far especially drafting from the last spot. Downside ~ Being a LB in this scoring system. Round 3 ~ Marion BarberI really though my "kicker" would last this far. But I like Barbers running style, RB's are always a valuable pick, and the fact that I own Jones made Barber a no-brainer here. I've seen him ranked as high as the 15th overall rookie dynasty pick. FBG's latest rookie rankings have him as the 10th ranked rookie....Glad those rankings came out as we were nearly done...hehe Downside...Being stuck behind Jones. 2 very possible top 10 dynasty rookie rb's and the top IDP'er from the last spot?....Yeah it's going alright. Round 4 ~ Matt Roth d**n here is the first time I been PO'ed in this draft...missed my QB by one d**n pick...d**n you Britte anyway.....on we go After Erasmus "and I wasn't picking Erasmus THAT high anyway due to injury concerns", Roth was my top DE going into this draft. Figured I could get him at 4.14? Not a chance in hell. Once again it's this scoring system and how many DE's we start Downside ~ A move to OLB in a 3-4 scheme with our pathetic LB scoring system. Round 5 ~ Jonathan BabineauxSimply fleshing out the DE position...I like this guy at least as much as his current ranking. Round 6 ~ Lance MitchellSomewhere between my 10th and 15th rookie LB in the sixth round. With this scoring that's about right. Round 7 ~ Bo Scaife "Mr Irrelevent" hmm the more I think this over "MR R" could very well become my best pick. I see now that FBG's has him ranked between 3rd and 10th, avg=6.1...rookies that is. Only health concerns kept me from ranking him much higher than I did but I believe he has talent equal to any TE in this years draft "IF" he can stay healthy. Course now that Troupe is having foot surgery things little a tad bit better for "Mr Irrelevent". Overall...Having the last pick in every round hurt, but I feel I did very well. I would have liked to get my kicker and QB but shored the team up in several areas.

2005 rookie picks for bdfl draft
1.06 Mike Williams WR Det 2.03 Aaron Rogers QB G.B. 3.04 Alvin Pearman RB Jax 3.10 Terrence Murphy WR G.B. 4.04 Alex Smith TE T.B. 5.04 Courtney Roby WR TEN 6.04 David Greene QB SEA 7.04 Ryan Fitzpatrick QB STL
1.06 I traded down in round 1 feeling pretty confident that I would still get one of the top three wr's in the draft. I was not dissapointed, and I added Keyshawn Johnson in the deal.
I grade this pick an A
At 2.03 I was torn between a couple of players I just about drafted Morency here But I decided to go with Rogers instead, Hoping that Morency would be there in round 3...WRONG! I would say that My qb of the future is locked up and I'm now just gonna have to wait for father time to come and make him the starter. I think now that if I had waited until round three to take him I would have gotten Morency too. BAD MANAGEMENT on my part!
Pick Grade C
3.04 I was kicking myself for not taking Morency in round 2 so I went out looking for a running back that could get decent playing time soon. Alvin Pearman seemed like he might fit that bill.
Pick Grade B
3.10 I was looking for wr help and I think I drafted a future starter in Terrence Murpy. It might take a couple of seasons but I think he will be good.
Grade B
4.04 I decided to add a TE to my roster and I'm hoping that Alex Smith will be a decent pick and I think Smith will excel in Gruden's complicated offense..
Grade C
5.04 With this pick I was looking to add a player that I hope can get decent playing time and What I like about Roby is his ability to run routes over the middle.... Hopefully Tennesee sees it that way too.
Grade C
6.04 I decided to go trolling for possibilities at qb with my last two picks.I'm hoping that Greene can take away backup duties behind Hasselbeck.
Grade c-
7.04 Staying with the qb idea I took Fitzpatrick hoping that he can also take away backup duties from Smoker.
Grade D

1.05 5 Edwards, Braylon CLE WR I traded up from 1.7 to make this pick and hoped it would not hurt me in the next 2 rounds. I thought Edwards was head and shoulders above Williams and Williamson at WR. 2.12 26 Morency, Vernand HOU RB somehow Morency fell to me and I needed this bad as a DD owner. thanks guys ! 3.05 33 Frye, Charlie CLE QB I considered Frye in round 2 but needed Morency more. I was hoping Rogers-QB or Frye would fall here. my trade up in round 1 did not hurt me at all. thanks again . so far I was right on target and very pleased. 3.07 35 Spears, Marcus DAL DE **(homer pick)** after trading Strahan for 2.12 (Morency), I need help at DL. E.James went way too early for me at #23, but Spears was 2nd on my DL list. this was probably still too early. considered B.Poole- DB here to go with my other Cleveland DBs. also considered M.Barber- RB because I knew he would never make it back to me. time will tell on this pick. 4.01 43 Crowder, Channing MIA LB with Poole and Barber gone , my next biggest need was LB. also considerad Burnett- LB, but Crowder should do better as a MLB. 5.07 63 Henry, Chris CIN WR never heard of this guy till I started looking into other dynasty drafts. he has an average draft position of about #30. right now he is #4 or 5 on the depth chart , but with supposedly 1st round talent, I figured it was worth a shot for the future. almost took K. Everett -TE here and he went with the next pick. I had hoped K.Orton fell to me here or the next pick , but he went way early at #39. 6.07 77 Brackins, Larry TBB WR another long shot, but he could be the WR2 in Tampa by next year. considered Oshiomogho Atogwe- S here and he was gone before my next pick. 7.06 90 Castillo, Luis SDC DT needing another DL prospect I took this pick over T.Johnson- DT, who went right after my 2 picks. with several good safetys still on the board, maybe I should have taken D.Nicholson or S.Considine here. we shall see. 7.07 91 Collins, Nick GBP S the only reason I took Collins over the previous 2 mentioned was because I am worried he will take Roman's job and I don't want to lose production out of that spot.
overall I was pretty happy with my draft.

Round 1 - Ronnie BrownEven with the Ricky Williams rumors, this was a no brainer. Ronnie has gone number 1 in every rookie draft I've been part of so far this year, and I don't think he'll disappoint. Round 2 - Alex SmithI didn't plan on taking a QB with this pick, but with Smith still available I couldn't pass. This is the first rookie draft I've seen where Smith hasn't been picked in the first round. And presently with Joey Harrington as my backup QB, I was thrilled Smith fell to me. Round 3 - Matt JonesAnother surprise for me that Jones lasted to the third round, as he's been drafted in the late first to mid second in the other drafts I've seen. I was looking to draft a WR with this pick, but I just didn't expect it to be Jones. He's definitely a "project", but you can't ignore his physical tools. Plus, Jacksonville isn't exactly loaded with great WR's. Round 4 - Jerome MathisAnother WR with terrific speed, Mathis also is a great kick returner. And with Houston recently dropping JJ Moses, this gives Mathis the chance to at least fill that spot. Of course, I'm hoping he'll eventually become the Texans 2nd or 3rd WR. Considering he only has to beat out Jabar Gaffney or Corey Bradford, I like his chances. Round 5 - Adrian McPhersonAnother "project" player but again, the physical tools are too good to pass up. If Aaron Brooks doesn't lift up his game this year, McPherson could very well compete for the starting job in 2006. It didn't hurt that he plays for my beloved Saints either Round 6 - Alfred FincherAt first this may look like a total homer pick, but word is around Saints camp that Fincher has been very impressive and will challenge for a starting LB spot. The Saints probably have the worst LB core in the NFL, so it should be little problem for Fincher win the job. Round 7 - Darryl BlackstockI'm not thrilled with this pick but in the 7th round you can only expect so much. Blackstock is a great pass rusher who will probably play mostly on third down pass rushing situations. Overall I'm happy with my draft. Of course picking first had a lot to do with that. I didn't get to help my defense as much as I had hoped, but I love what I got on offense.

I figured my team needed youth at running back, to soon replace the aging Tiki Barber and others. I also have a need of wide receivers on offense. I'm hoping one of these guys starts this year to get some experience and develop into a player I can start in a couple of years. Rd.1: Ciatric Fason, RB, MIN - With the RBBC and disappearing backs in Minny, he has a chance to get some on-field action this year. Sorry Rob, for grabbing him just before you. Rd. 2: Roddy White, WR, ATL - Roddy has a chance to show what he can do in Atlanta and possibly start. I'd really love to see him be a bye week starter for me. Rd. 3: Roscoe Parrish, WR, BUF - Roscoe could make his way into the lineup, he is my backup to my 2nd rd. pick. Rd. 4: Started to think about Defense here...Pittsburgh has an eye for bringing up young LBs and letting some go at the right time. Kendrell Bell is gone (KC) and this kid will most likely get some time on special teams this year. Rd. 5: Fabian Washington, DB, OAK - The 23rd pick overall! This guy has a chance to play this year, since one of the Buchanans is gone...I get them confused. Rd. 6: Corey Webster, DB, NYG - The 43rd pick overall, but the first pick by the Giants this year. If I didn't have a 1st rd. pick and had to wait until the 2nd rd., I'd be sure to get the best possible talent for my team, thus I'm hoping the Giants' scouts did their job. I traded away rd. 7's pick to Cleaning Up Harv's Mess for Tommy Maddox, giving me a handcuff to Roethlisberger. I think I did pretty well, addressing my team's needs and the trade helped a rebuilding team and gave me a little insurance for the season. (Thanks.)

Good writeups guys..............and Dan, I can't wait to read yours.
I might redo mine because I didn't go into great detail like you all did. I like that more than what I did, it was too brief and bland.

extreme hitters-----2005 rookie draft well going into the draft i was looking for depth and really didn't help 2 positions. round #1 -shawne merriman(lb)sd--well i think shawne will be the next ray lewis.and when he's ready possibly ray will be winding down a great career. round #2-adam "PACMAN" jones (db) ten - a starter who will return kicks couldn't pass him up even though i needed help elsewhere. round # 3-mike patterson ( dt) complete homer pick but i see him playing on the line as well as all linebacker spots so he should see considerably playing time as a rookie. #4- andrew walter (qb) oak- a good pick here in my opinion, now here's to you kerry time to hit the bottle hoping for walter to become starter by2007. #5-jerome collins(te)stl-- trying to fill my needs hoping he develops soon. #6-justin green(rb)bal-adding another bal rb to my stable. #7-vincent burns(de) the colts need him to step up and start i need him for depth.

very good draft for depth, considering where you drafted from. Nicholson could be the SOD. I don't know how he lasted til the 7th round and I should have taken him over Collins. 2 backup RBs - good 2 taxi squad QBs - both are in a position to start in a year or 2 if the QBs ahead of them falter, although I think Orton was taken too high. Burnett fell much further than I thought he would. he was taken 10 picks after I took Crowder and I had them about even. Cody was good value too in a weak DL class. Round 1 ~ Eric Shelton, CAR, RB Round 2 ~ Brandon Jacobs, NYG, RB Round 3 ~ Kyle Orton, CHI, QB Round 4 ~ Kevin Burnett, DAL, LB Round 5 ~ Dan Orlovsky, DET, QB Round 6 ~ Dan Cody, BALT, DE Round 7 ~ Donte Nicholson, TB, S Well I was very happy to land 2 possible goal line threats with my 1st 2 picks, Shelton/Jacobs...............and future starters (hopefully). very good for your draft position. Moats is worth the risk. who knew Westbrook would do what he has done ? Davis is the #! IDP without question. Barber was a steal. I almost took him the previous round and had him at the top of my list when you picked right before me. Roth will be good when he gets the chance sometime in the future. Babineaux has a lot of talent, but is it IDP worthy? D-limemen are always a gamble. a lot of people are very high on Mitchell. if he wins a starting job, then he was a steal. not bad at all. ;D Round 1 ~ "via trade" ~ Ryan MoatsWestbrook is a free agent next year and Moats gets 3rd round rookie pay...wanna guess what Philly will do? some good moves giving you an extra pick.. most will not start right away, but all could in the future. Roby could be a steal if he wins the WR2 spot . Smith could also start at TE. all were good value where they were picked except Murphy ( unless Walker holds out). all the Rogers talk about being the #1 pick has to make you feel good about his future. never hurts to have a QB (or 2) on the taxi squad. I bet that is where Tom Brady started his FF career. 2005 rookie picks for bdfl draft 1.06 Mike Williams WR Det 2.03 Aaron Rogers QB G.B. 3.04 Alvin Pearman RB Jax 3.10 Terrence Murphy WR G.B. 4.04 Alex Smith TE T.B. 5.04 Courtney Roby WR TEN 6.04 David Greene QB SEA 7.04 Ryan Fitzpatrick QB STL 1.06 I traded down in round 1 feeling pretty confident that I would still get one of the top three wr's in the draft. the #1 RB and #1 QB d**n what else could you ask for !!! Jones and Mathis are both projects. I think I would have grabbed another RB or QB here with so many WR prospects still on the board. Fincher was not just a homer pick. Blackstock's pre-draft hype could make this a surprise pick. the only real surprise was that no DBs were taken from a very deep class. Round 1 - Ronnie BrownEven with the Ricky Williams rumors, this was a no brainer. Ronnie has gone number 1 in every rookie draft I've been part of so far this year, and I don't think he'll disappoint.
